The Thorn

I am happy today that I have this thorn in my side.

Though it is not pleasant, it makes me realize.

That without its ache I would compromise, the good of living a moral life.

This thorn is helpful in many a way,

I am sure it happened to keep me at bay,

To ensure my integrity, as it is today,

Not so much for you but especially for me, as

Without it, there will be no piece of mind, for

I would be thrown, and bashed by the conscience of mine.

Never being able to forgive myself.  This thorn has saved me a

Living hell.

Do always remember when you too have your own thorn,

It is easier to question its pain each dawn.

Or you would never forget the mistake you might have made,

Were there no thorn, to keep integrity awake.
