Trusting again

Part One

The passion of passing near was delightful but his warmth was despair to her, as trust was not one that came easily.  Emy found that she liked Jeff’s personality.  She was used to many guys around but he seemed different in a few odd ways.  He was smooth and engaging.  Never spoke too much and saw everything around him.  He also seemed to have a higher sense for sniffing things out that were not right.

She has been on her own for several years now and she thought of having someone around again. Someone trustworthy.  Even though Jeff felt that way to her, she was not going to let down her guard so easily.  Emy, being an entomologist, liked things in a particular order and this, many found weird about her.  Her manner was usually neat but clever.  She was very observant and a deep thinker.  She was however, lonesome after years of putting her heart back together.

An afternoon, she walked past the library where Jeff worked.  He was on his way out and looked up just in time to see her passing by.  He hailed out to her.  They were soon wrapped up in conversation.  Though it felt like they knew the other for all time, they spoke strictly of their jobs and current issues around town.  She felt safe with him and somehow, he sensed that.   In feeling safe with him, she knew that he was going to be the one to earn her trust this time around.  She smiled.
